CALCULATORCASTLE

Privacy policy

The short version: the numbers you type into a calculator never leave your browser, and you can use every calculator on this site without an account.

What this policy covers

This policy explains what Calculator Castle collects when you visit calculatorcastle.com, why, and what choices you have. It applies to the website and to the embeddable calculator widgets published from it. It does not apply to other sites you reach through a link from here, which run their own policies.

Calculations stay on your device

Every calculator on this site runs in your browser. The figures you enter, whether that is a salary, a loan balance, a due date or a body weight, are processed by JavaScript on your own device and are not transmitted to us. We do not store them, we cannot see them, and closing the tab discards them.

Three calculators fetch reference data from an external source: the currency calculator retrieves exchange rates, the amortization calculator can retrieve an average mortgage rate published by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, and the map-based calculators request road routes and place coordinates. Those requests ask for public reference data. They do not carry the values you typed.

Accounts, and what an account stores

An account is optional and exists for one purpose: saving a calculation so you can return to it. If you create one, we store your email address, an encrypted password managed by our authentication provider, and any calculation you deliberately choose to save. Nothing is saved to an account unless you press Save.

Accounts and saved calculations are held on Supabase, which provides the database and authentication for this site. You can delete a saved calculation at any time from your account page. To delete the account itself, write to us at the address below and it will be removed along with everything attached to it.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. This site uses them in three ways.

  • Signing in. If you create an account, a cookie keeps you signed in between pages. Without it you would have to sign in again on every click. It is set only after you sign in.
  • Measurement. We use analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful. This tells us that a page was read; it does not tell us who read it or what they typed.
  • Advertising. This site is funded by advertising served by Google. Advertising cookies are set by Google and its partners rather than by us.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them stops sign-in from working and has no effect on any calculator.

Advertising

Google is a third-party vendor on this site and uses cookies to serve ads. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Google's own terms are set out in its policy on how it uses data from sites that use its services.

Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove advertising. It makes the ads less relevant to you, which is the trade being offered.

Server logs

Like any website, this one is served by a host that keeps short-lived technical logs: the page requested, the time, a browser identifier and an IP address. Those logs exist to keep the site online and to investigate abuse. We do not use them to build a profile of you.

The embeddable widgets

Our calculator widgets can be embedded on other websites. A widget runs entirely in the visitor's browser, sets no cookies of its own and sends nothing back to us beyond the ordinary request that loads the script file. If you publish one on your own site, you are not passing your visitors' data to us.

Children

This site is a general-audience reference tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and it will be deleted.

Your rights over your data

If you hold an account, you can ask for a copy of what it contains, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will act on that request. Depending on where you live, those rights may be guaranteed by law, including the General Data Protection Regulation in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, and the California Consumer Privacy Act. We honour the same requests wherever you are, because there is very little data to argue about: an email address and the calculations you chose to keep.

We do not sell personal information, and there is no personal information collected from visitors who never create an account.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Continued use of the site after a change means the revised policy applies.
